Winter Seclusion

Our winters here on the Gunflint Trail are quiet and beautiful with an abundance of snow.  Trout Lake is tucked away in a private little section of the peaceful north woods.  We rent only one cabin in the winter, so you are assured of a peaceful, secluded winter retreat. Cabin #7 is a modern, 3 bedroom vacation home.  Full kitchen, microwave, satellite TV / DVD / VCR.

Trout Lake is known for rainbow and lake trout ice fishing.  We can arrange for a dog sled adventure if you notify us in advance. We would be happy to help you in any way we can.

Groomed XC ski trails are within 8-15 miles  Lutsen Mountain downhill ski area is about 30 miles away.  Bring your snowmobile and ride the backwoods trails or drive 8 miles to the South Brule to ride the groomed Gunflint snowmobile trails.

Our small store is well stocked with basic grocery supplies, snacks, bait and tackle.   Gas for snowmobile is available.  The coffee pot is always on for a quick winter warm-up!

Please Remember: Trout Lake is located 16 miles from Grand Marais; 12 miles up the Gunflint Trail and 4 miles east on the Trout Lake Road (FSR 140).  The road is well maintained but narrow, so please drive slowly.
